Same Story, Different Day

I just got done reading some Posts on Dave Weiner's Scripting News site. Dave and I definitely have a difference of opinion on some issues, but that's fine.

He went on and on about how Bush lied, and people died, and Bush needs to resign, the media must be controlled by conservatives (which is really quite laughable if you pay attention to the media at all), etc. etc. It bothers me about how people just throw those accusations around so carelessly. Case in point..

If President Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq, then a WHOLE LOT of other people lied about them too, including many Democratic Senators. Most of the free world was convinced that Saddam had WMDs. Now, we didn't find any there, but that doesn't mean he didn't have them. There is proof from the last rounds of inspections that there were WMDs, and the last time they looked, they weren't there. Where did they go? Did Saddam just up and get rid of them like a good dictator? Somehow I find that hard to believe. I don't believe President Bush lied about this issue. Were we misinformed? Possibly. Did he lie on purpose? I don't think so. That would really be political suicide.

People always say, "Bush lied - people died." Although it is unfortunate that anyone would lose their life in service to our country, it is a part of war. I believe that people know that when they join the Armed Services. I think it is one of the greatest honors to give your life for your country - for something you believe in. Even if there never turn out to be any WMDs at all, we have removed an evil man from power and made the world a safer place. Offering up your life for that cause is an honorable thing.

Why can't we all just work together and get good things done for this country? Unless there is concrete proof that President intentionally misled this nation, which I doubt you will ever find, let's work together to improve the areas of this nation that need improvement. Let's return to some sort of moral code. Let's take the higher road. Let's make the tough choices and stick with them. Let's hope that God will have mercy and continue to show favor on our nation.

Save the Trees...and Kill the Children

I was listening to Casting Crown's new album LifeSong tonight. On the "While You Were Sleeping" track, some of the lyrics hit me:

United States of America
Looks like another silent night
As we're sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the treees and kill the children.

I don't think you could really the nail more on the head than that for our nation. It seems like often times the ones who protest so much to save the whales, the owls, the trees, etc. don't care if millions of innocent children are slaughtered (and yes...a child is a child, whether born or not, it doesn't take much logic to figure that one out) each year.

These are the same people who would have us believe that our entire existence just **BANG** came into being one day by some random chance. The other day a couple of coworkers and I figured out the chance of guessing a 4 CHARACTER sequence made up of numbers and letters on the first try the other day. Try something like .000059537 percent chance. That's just for an incredibly simple task. Just imagine the complexity of the entire universe. I have a hard time imagining that it came into being by pure chance, but that's the great thing about this country. I'm free to offer my opinion, and you are free to agree or disagree with it. So...agree or disagree away!

Enough Already

I know these last few days have been absolutely horrible down in New Orleans. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for the people down there, but I'm really getting tired of people turning this into a racial thing. This is NOT a racial thing. People say, "the government isn't helping fast enough - they must not like Black people." Well did you ever stop to wonder that no one was probably even remotely ready for something like this to happen? And even if they were ready, it still would have been chaotic anyway, because you always have people that want to brave out the storm and not listen to sound advice.

Kanye West ripped President Bush today during an appearance on national TV. You know, instead of trying to unite everyone, lets spread discord, that sounds like a good idea. And Bush must hate blacks, that's why he's had two of them on his cabinet staff. It's really pretty ridiculous. I'm sorry that Black people are having a tough time in New Orleans right now, but people of other races are as well. EVERYONE is having a tough time. Instead of complaining about the government the entire time, do something. Help, in whatever way you can. I know some people down there might not be able to, but instead of raping, and pretty much looting and pillaging, put your energy toward something worthwile.

Well, that's all for tonight.
