Time to Blog

I was inspired by a friend's post in her blog to actually write something, since it's been a while since I've written here. I'll save updating in grander detail for another time. Danielle has a new job in town, and she really likes it, so that's definitely a blessing. Tonight I just wanted to comment on some things in the news I've seen lately.

This whole Howard Dean as the chairman of the DNC just makes me chuckle. You have to give the guy some credit. He is passionate and knows how to get people energized. However, only a few months ago, he was too "crazy" to be the challenger for George Bush, and now he's supposed to lead the party to a win in 2008? It just seems a little ironic to me.

Planned Parenthood...I don't even know where to start there. It should really be called Planned Non-parenthood, or Planned Pro Choice, etc. etc. Not once in the almost one hour I spent in the waiting room last night did I see anything that even mentioned any sort of other options for a woman who is pregnant other than abortion - not adoption, not anything. There didn't even appear to be much material about actually carrying the baby to full term. All I saw were "protect your right to your body", "it's your choice", etc. etc. Sorry, that baby inside of you is not just some part of your body that you can lop off or suck the brains out of whenever you feel like it. It deserves a right to life, something we're all promised (you know that whole "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" thing?) But that's something more for another time.

It struck me while watching the Grammy's the other night that if Danielle and I ever became really famous for some reason, we would not be very popular with that crowd, and that doesn't really bother me all that much. It was just an interesting observation I made while watching the show. Kanye West sings about Jesus walking with him, yet when he wins the award for best rap album of the year, everything is about him, it's his time to party, etc. He brings the house down with he performance, but when someone sings a song about what life is actually about (Tim McGraw's Live Like You Were Dying), hardly a soul in the audience stood, except for his wife, Faith Hill. Take that for what it may be worth to you.

I'm sure there is much more to write about tonight, but nothing is coming to mind right now...
